Shigai Royalty Step-By-Step Software Walkthrough

Now, let me walk you through the full process of building a Find-the-Killer puzzle book inside Shigai Royalty.

Start inside the main Shigai Royalty workspace. The Pages section is used for handling single pages, while Bulk mode is the faster choice for preparing a complete book in larger batches. This walkthrough focuses mainly on Bulk mode.

You can also reopen earlier work through My Templates/My Library, start a fresh project with Create a Story Book, carry on with an existing series, or ask the software to create a random theme.

[+] Choose the Page Size, Puzzle Variant, and Grid

Open Bulk Settings and choose the page dimensions that match your publishing format. In the demonstration, 8.5 x 11 in (Letter) is selected.

Next, choose the puzzle Variant, which is set to Classic whodunit in the demo, then select the Grid Size. The suspect count changes automatically with the chosen grid, giving you access to both compact puzzles and much larger layouts.

[+] Customize the Theme, Characters, Setting, and Visual Style

Scroll to the creative settings and select the Mystery mode you want to use for the book. Turn on Customize cast to replace the standard characters with your own choices.

After that, choose a Location or let Shigai Royalty cycle through different settings automatically. Pick an Artwork style, then select Color, Grayscale, or B&W output. The live preview updates with your changes, so you can check the visual direction before generating the pages

[+] Adjust the Difficulty and Puzzle Layout

Choose the Difficulty level that best suits your target readers. You can also set how many puzzles should be placed on each page.
When the layout is ready, enter the Number of pages you want Shigai Royalty to create for the bulk project.

[+] Refine the Interior Design

Use the expandable formatting sections to fine-tune the book interior. Layout & Margins controls page placement, Typography adjusts the text styling, Page Numbers manages numbering, while Appearance and Solution & Display give you additional control over the page look and solution presentation.

Watch the live preview while adjusting these settings to keep the layout clean, readable, and properly fitted to your chosen trim size.

[+] Set the Book Length and Add the Job to the Queue

Enter the total number of pages you want in the project. The demonstration sets this to 40 pages.

You can also enable Story mode to connect the individual cases into one continuous storyline. After completing the setup, click Add to Queue. Shigai Royalty then stores the selected grid size, difficulty, page count, and related settings as a bulk generation task.

[+] Generate the Full Batch

After the project is added to the queue, begin the generation process. Shigai Royalty creates the requested pages while the Generating counter displays the progress.

The walkthrough also shows options for replacing existing pages and automatically clearing the queue when generation is finished. Leave the process running until all requested pages have been created.

[+] Insert a How-to-Play Page

Open the New Page menu and select Instructions. Shigai Royalty then adds a ready-made HOW TO PLAY page explaining how readers should solve the puzzles before moving into the main cases.

This page is particularly helpful for first-time puzzle readers because the instructions are included directly inside the finished book.

[+] Add the Copyright Page

Select Copyright from the New Page menu. Enter the Author name you want to appear on the page, then click Create Page.

You can later choose New Copyright Text to replace the automatically generated wording while keeping the author information already added.

[+] Export the Completed Book

For single pages, the left-side panel offers export formats including PNG, PDF, SVG, and PPTX.

To download the full project, click Export All in the top-right area of the workspace. Shigai Royalty processes all generated pages and merges them into the final file. Complete the export before opening the document or preparing it for upload.

Open the combined PDF and inspect several pages at full size before publishing. Review the puzzle titles, difficulty badges, room names, clue areas, margins, and overall page order.

Confirm that the instruction page and copyright page are positioned correctly as well. Once the interior looks clean and properly organized, you can move on to publishing it through Amazon KDP as a paperback interior or selling it as a printable product.
